About Mise en scène

Mise en scène, a term borrowed from film and theatre, is inspired by the title of John Parkinson’s 16th century work Theatrum Botanicum. Our brand is born out of the concept of creating beautiful vistas of ornamental plants in your space, like a “theatre of plants”.

While we do see plants as decorative in purpose, we go further in wanting you to find that right plant for the right place, so that your plant can live its best life. Because a thriving plant ceases to be a decorative fixture, and evolves into a breathing work of art that shares the passing of time with the occupants of the space. It partaking in your daily life, and you beholding its vitality requiting your care, sums up to an experience far beyond mere aesthetic value. For this reason, we are as interested in the science of plants as we are in the art.

As you can see, that plants have a deserving role in the entire mise en scène of human life. As you go about piecing together all that pleases the eye, setting the scene for a well-lived life, don’t forget these living artwork: their movement paying homage to wind, their form casting shadows that marks the hours, the gracefulness of their shapes, the intricacy of their textures, and their countless hues and shades that only nature has a paint brush for.

Complete your scene.
